Prof. Marco Benazzo


Marco Benazzo actually is an associate professor in Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pavia, Italy. He works as a vice-chairman at the Otorhinolaryngology Department, University of Pavia, IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo, Pavia.
He qualified in Medicine in 1984 at the University of Pavia cum laude; in 1987 he specialized in otorhinolaryngology and Audiology in1991.
He spent one year at the cancer institut Gustave Roussy in Paris where obtained the graduation in Head and Cancer treatment in 1994.
From 1989 he obtained a graduation as a professor in the school of specialization in otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pavia until the 1999 when became associate professor.
He obtained the following awards:

- 1984: award “M. Mingardi” of the University of Pavia
- 1984: award of the Italian Society of Otorhinolaryngology
- 1995: award “Clerici” of the Italian Society of Otorhinolaryngology
- 1997 award of SICO rof the Pathology in cervico mediastinal pathology

He is a member of medical societies:

- Italian Society of ORL
- Societé francaise de cancerologie
- European Laryngological Society
- American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology

The fields of the interest of Prof. Marco Benazzo is the head and neck oncology in particular his major interest is in flap reconstruction. He has written more than 100 pubblications and many chapters in books. In particular he is the organizer of the european courses in head and neck reconstruction, twice in a year, at the University of Pavia (microsuregry course) and in Paris (dissection course).
