Appointed to a World Health Organisation Fellowship in 1967.

Appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire June 1976.

Awarded the Honorary Degree of Master of the University by the University of Surrey 1996.

Awarded the George Barnhart Memorial Fellowship by the University of Chicago 1980.

Appointed Visiting Professor by the University of Manitoba Canada 1981.

Appointed Visiting Professor by the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. 1991.
