Dr. Adel K. El-Naggar, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. El-Naggar is a head and neck pathologist with established
interest in head and neck diagnostic and translational research
aspects of these tumors. He is a tenured professor of Pathology
and Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson
Cancer Center and holds the Kenneth D. Muller endowed professionship
in research. He is also the Director of the Head and Neck Pathology
Section and the Head and Neck Fellowship Program. Dr. El-Naggar
is a member of the Executive Committee for the RTOG, Head and Neck
Section and the Chair of the Head and Neck Correlative Science of
the Southwest Oncology cooperative group and the National Cancer
Institute Intergroup. He is a member of several editorial review
boards and national professional society. He has served on the editorial
board of several national and international journals and a member
of the WHO Classification of Head and Neck Cancer Panel. He is also
the recipient of the 1997 Philip Rothschild Senior Scientist scholarship
to Curie Institute, Paris, France. Dr. El-Naggar’s current
research efforts focus on the molecular genetic characterization
of salivary glands, mucosal and thyroid tumors and the identification
and validation of biomarkers in head and neck tumorigenesis.
