Nicholas Kalavrezos started his maxillofacial career in the University
Hospital in Zurich where he completed his thesis in the management
of craniofacial trauma. After a 4 year residential programme, he
moved to the UK where he completed training with emphasis in head
and neck oncology and microvascular surgery in Liverpool, Mount
Vernon and St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital.
In early 2002 Nicholas was appointed Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon
at University College London Hospitals with a sub-specialty interest
in oral oncology and microvascular reconstruction. His clinical
pactice includes also surgical treatment of salivary gland neoplasms
as well as thyroid surgery.
His main research interests are the diagnostic and therapeutic
aspects of the management of advanced head and neck cancer and the
applied interface between new technologies and conventional surgery.
He has organised workshops with regard to oral pre- and early malignant
lesions. The next meeting is scheduled for June 2005 and the topic
is microvascular reconstruction in the head & neck region.
